One of the great privileges of being a massage therapist is the varied conversations we have throughout our working day.
I was particularly struck by one from a couple of weeks ago with a regular client at the clinic; it began with a statement that would bring joy and pleasure to any therapist, but somehow it was especially impactful to me.
“Do you know what I like about coming here?”
No, I replied, but I would love to know.
“You provide everything I need in one place.
If I injure myself while trying to maintain and improve my fitness, I’ll come and see you or Tom. If neither of you is available, then I would go and see Thomas or Debbie.
You are both so skilled at assessing the problem, treating it and advising on stretch or strength work. It is always so much more than booking a massage treatment. It really is quite unique and truly exceptional.
You know that I also see Sharon and Geraldine regularly. Sharon is just magical in her treatments, so caring and comforting in all that she does and a critical part of managing my life each month. I alternate my relaxing treatments with reflexology treatments with Geraldine; both are incredibly relaxing, but they seem to work in different ways.
I am keen to try Leia and her mixed Pilates-and-massage, what a thought. I am sure that I will try it in the near future.
I have yet to meet Holly, but I love that you and Tom recognise the importance of bringing new talent into the business and providing them with incredible opportunities to build their experience and knowledge in such a supportive environment.
The clinic is always immaculate and just a lovely place to be. I know that you and Tom work incredibly hard to ensure that all guests, both regular and new, have the very best experience when they visit. The business is an absolute credit to you both.”
It was more difficult than I had anticipated to thank her for expressing her thoughts about our work and business. I guess I was a little overwhelmed by such thoughtful and kind comments, but I felt that they were thoroughly worth sharing with you all.
Best wishes,
John Holman – Clinic Lead
